Pacific Metals Group – Trade Approved Container Weighing System
Pacific Metals Group is one the largest collectors, processors, and suppliers of recycled metal products in Victoria, Australia and more recently expanding to Sydney and Brisbane metropolitan area. With a growing business, comes an increase in traffic through the recycling plants.
Therefore, PMG were looking for ways to reduce the volume over their single weighbridge which they use for weigh-in and weigh-out functionality of trucks and containers. They were exploring a new weighbridge to allow one for dedicated weigh in and one for weigh out. However, due to site restrictions they were unable to accommodate a new weighbridge. With these issues National Weighing and Instruments proposed a trade approved container weighing system suitable for 20ft containers. The new system reduced traffic over their weighbridge by about 250-300 weighing transactions per month allowing for increased flow and productivity of their scrap metal site.
The weighing system was fitted with a the Bilanciai CPD-M Digital Loadcell and Norsk 125mm LED IP65 Remote Display. This Loadcell is IP68 S/S with lightning protection, which allows for unrivalled weighing performance and longevity. Due to the lack of power to the location, NWI powered the system with a small solar system, which not only reduced major civil works and site delays trenching, but also meant the system operates 24/7, 365 days of the year for free.
Because of its design, installation took 2 days to complete. No welding was required on site as the system completes completely pre-assembled for ease of installation and a fast turnaround time.
